Hyper-V for me?
Well, I guess that what I get for not reading the fine print.
I have loaded Windows Server 2008 twice so far and still can’t test the virtualization waters. Yes, I consulted the documentation in between installs! Okay, maybe I didn’t read down far enough or just didn’t pay enough attention…. oh look at the pretty sunshine… oh sorry, where was I? Right, in “hardware requirements” hell.
I tried to install on a Pentium 4 – hah!
I tried to install a 32-bit version – bit hah!
I tried to install on a 64-bit dual-core – dual hah!
Apparently, your 64-bit CPUs have to specifically include support for virtual processing (Intel VT or AMD-V).
No Hyper-V for me… oh no, I feel a Seuss attack coming on…..
I could not install it on that box;
I could not install it save my socks;
I could not view that virtual tree;
It just would not setup for me;
It did not like my CPU;
It did not like it, bought some new;
MS said get some good Intel;
But I’m still stuck in Hype-V hell;
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh, shifting into Saturday morning……
Yeah, I’m just a Dell, yeah I’m only a Dell and I’m sittin’ here in Hyper-V hell;
Oh, someday I hope to be installed, yes I hope and pray that I will, but today I am still just a bill.
A Visa bill that is. I had to spring for some dual Xeon’s, which just happen to come stuck in a new motherboard with 4 gigs of RAM, and a few 15,000 rpm SCSI drives attached in a RAID array. Sorry kids, you’ll have to put off that college edumacation for another year… Daddy’s gotta have him some Hyper-V!!!
Well, I’ll update this post when the visa bill… I mean hardware arrives….
